As we navigate the peak of solar activity, geospatial professionals must be increasingly aware of the impact that heightened space weather can have on GPS accuracy and data collection. While today’s advanced systems often mitigate space weather effects, geomagnetic storms can still disrupt signals, leading to unexpected anomalies in geospatial data. This session explores a recent event where a sudden spike in geomagnetic activity coincided with a critical data collection period, resulting in measurable deviations in raw data. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of space weather’s potential to affect precision mapping, learn best practices for identifying and adjusting for space-weather-related anomalies, and discuss proactive strategies to ensure data integrity during solar maximum.
