Tewodros Syum Gebre is a postdoctoral researcher at North Carolina A&T State University. He holds a B.S. in Hydraulic Engineering from Arba Minch University, Ethiopia (2009), an M.S. in Civil Engineering (Road and Transport) from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia (2014), and a Ph.D. in Applied Science and Technology from North Carolina A&T State University, USA (2025).
His research focuses on AI model development for smart cities & infrastructure resilience. Tewodros worked on a Microsoft-funded project that used AI and high-resolution UAV imagery for traffic monitoring. He was also a member of the NC Transportation Center of Excellence on Connected and Autonomous Vehicle Technology (NC-CAV), supported by the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
Tewodros received the G. Herbert Stout Award for Best Student Paper at the North Carolina GIS Conference.
