Gerald Brian Guerra Jr. is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and undergraduate aviation student at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, pursuing a B.S. in Aeronautics with a minor in Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS). His academic and professional background emphasizes leadership, mission-critical communication, and systems-based decision-making.
During his military service, Brian worked extensively with command-and-control (C2) systems, radio operations, and air support coordination, developing a strong foundation in spatial awareness, operational planning, and risk management. He has since carried these skills into civilian security and operations roles, including service as a Security Guard at Embry-Riddle, where he supported campus and airfield safety through coordinated emergency response and interagency communication.
Brian’s research interests focus on the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to examine how historical policy decisions shape long-term spatial outcomes. Drawing on both technical training and lived experience growing up in East Austin, Texas, his work explores racial displacement, reinvestment, and the persistence of spatial inequities across generations. He is a student member of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS).
