Khris Gonzalez Pebe is a Public Policy and Human Security & Geospatial Intelligence major at the University of Southern California whose passion for spatial analysis was ignited by witnessing infrastructure inequities in her hometown of Lima, Peru. After discovering GIS technology in a sophomore elective, she recognized its power to transform lived observations into actionable data that addresses social and environmental disparities. Through research and internships, Khris has developed expertise in using geospatial technologies—from satellite imagery to machine learning—as tools for accountability and humanitarian action in conflict-affected regions, particularly the Middle East and Latin America. Drawing on her experience growing up in the Global South, she is committed to ensuring that geospatial work centers equity and cultural context, producing insights that empower communities rather than distort their realities. Khris aspires to build geospatial workflows that bridge technical innovation with policy impact, bringing a thoughtful, globally aware perspective to an industry she hopes to make more honest, ethical, and inclusive.
