Dana J. Caccamise II, Ph.D., is the Regional Geodetic Advisor for the Western & Pacific Regions and Acting Chief of the Geodetic Services Branch at NOAA’s National Geodetic Survey (NGS). In these roles, he works with public- and private-sector surveyors, GIS professionals, engineers, and scientists to support the application and modernization of the National Spatial Reference System (NSRS) across the United States.
With more than 30 years of experience spanning geodesy, geophysics, GIS, and surveying, Dana has been with NGS since 2014 and plays a key role in national and international geospatial coordination. He serves as the U.S. representative to SIRGAS and is a member of the U.S. Delegation to UN-GGIM and its Academic Network, supporting collaboration on geodetic infrastructure and reference frames throughout the Americas. Dana is based in San Diego, California, and is hosted by the California Spatial Reference Center at Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
