Rajeev Bhattarai is a PhD candidate at the School of Forest Resources, University of Maine, USA. He holds an MS degree in Forest Resources from the University of Maine. Rajeev harnesses the potential of remote sensing data and machine learning algorithms to assess the biophysical and biochemical characteristics of forests. His specific focus lies in establishing connections between plant physiological processes and remote sensing indicators. Currently, he is working on developing landscape level forest health monitoring products, such as host species composition and susceptibility maps for the eastern spruce budworm in Maine. His research involves the use of satellite multispectral and synthetic-aperture radar sensors.
