This conference session underscores the importance of having seamless elevation data to link terrestrial and ocean mapping for key decisions in the coastal zone. From critical choices on safety of life, property and the environment to economic growth investments, these activities depend on incorporating quality topographic and bathymetric elevation data for good decision-making across the board. This session will spotlight mapping efforts along our delicate coastlines and deep into our oceans to gain a better understanding of how requirements and benefits dovetail in the coastal zone for such mission areas as coastal resilience and flood risk, long term infrastructure planning, and emergency management. Attendees will gain insights into innovative approaches to mapping dynamic coastal and ocean realms using advanced lidar technologies, multibeam echo sounding, uncrewed systems, and satellite derived bathymetry.
