Martin Flood

Mr. Flood is Vice President, Special Projects for GeoCue Group, Inc., a technology development and consulting services company dedicated to creating hardware and software tools for improving geospatial data production. In this role, Martin provides technical expertise and business case analysis for GeoCue’s UAV payload development group. He also works with GeoCue’s customers to optimize and scale their data processing workflows when working with new UAV sensor technologies such as lidar. His research focuses on how to achieve the highest-accuracy results from lightweight, compact lidar sensors using relatively low-cost technology, with the goal to make lidar technology as widely accessible as possible to the survey and mapping community. Martin also works with GeoCue Group’s enterprise consulting group to deploy cloud-hosted data management solutions built using GeoCue’s Earth Sensor Portal web publishing technology. Martin began his career in 1991 working on lidar sensor hardware development at Optech, Inc. and was involved in the development of the first commercial airborne lidar terrain mapping systems released by Optech in 1995. He is a past chair of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) Lidar Technical Committee and currently serves on the Geo-Week Advisory Board. Martin received his undergraduate degree from the University of Waterloo and his M.Sc. in Physics from the University of Western Ontario. He has over 30 years’ experience in the design and construction of advanced laser systems for remote sensing applications and optimizing data processing workflows to improve production efficiency.
