Lamont Norman is Director of Product Management at Mapware, where he leads product strategy and the development of advanced aerial mapping and geospatial solutions for commercial, infrastructure, and government applications. With more than 25 years of experience spanning product management, GIS, software engineering, location intelligence, and geospatial technology, he has helped organizations transform emerging technologies into scalable products that solve complex real-world challenges.
Throughout his career, Lamont has led the development and commercialization of products supporting GIS, cloud-native platforms, photogrammetry, aerial mapping, and location intelligence. Mostly working with government, telcos, and enterprise geospatial organizations. His work has included product strategy, market development, customer engagement, and cross-functional leadership, collaborating with engineering, sales, and industry partners to bring innovative geospatial solutions to market. He is currently focused on next-generation aerial mapping platforms that integrate advanced sensors, direct georeferencing, photogrammetry, AI-enabled processing, and precision positioning technologies.
Lamont is also an inventor, holding a U.S. patent for a field data collection system, and has written and presented on topics including location intelligence, GIS, and emerging geospatial technologies. He is passionate about helping organizations modernize geospatial workflows through performance-based procurement, digital transformation, and the adoption of innovative mapping technologies that improve efficiency while maintaining rigorous accuracy and quality standards.
He holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Colorado Boulder, where he studied computer science, creative writing, and geography, providing a multidisciplinary foundation that bridges technology, geospatial science, and business strategy.
