Alvan “Al” Karlin, Ph.D., CMS-L, GISP – received his BS from Rutger’s University, New Jersey (1972), and his Ph.D. in Theoretical Genetics from Miami University, Ohio (1978). Al was a post-Doctoral Fellow at Florida State University before taking a faculty position at the University of Arkansas – Little Rock.
After leaving the university, Al joined the Southwest Florida Water Management District in 2007, as a Senior GIS Scientist where he directed the District’s LiDAR and Remote Sensing data collection missions. Following his retirement from the SWFWMD, he joined the Dewberry Geospatial Technology & Services Team in Tampa, Florida.
Al has been a member of ASPRS since 1995 and has served numerous terms as a Director, and two terms as the President, of the Florida Region of the ASPRS. He currently serves as the President-elect of the ASPRS.
