Aaron Liggett’s career bridges geospatial science, remote sensing, and landscape architecture. He began with an undergraduate degree in Physical Geography before working as an aerial photographer and LiDAR surveyor, collecting high-resolution geospatial data for projects around the world. Inspired by the urban and cultural landscapes from his travels, he pursued a Master of Landscape Architecture and became a licensed landscape architect. Today, as an Assistant Professor of Landscape Architecture at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, he combines expertise in drone technology, GIS, remote sensing, and environmental design to develop innovative workflows that integrate remote sensing with performance-based planning and design. His research and teaching focus on advancing Drone-Aided Design, using geospatial technologies to create more resilient, equitable, and data-informed landscapes.
