Our panel will discuss the advantages of utilizing mobile lidar (MTLS) and advanced ground penetrating radar (GPR) in the design and pre-design phase of a project. By using these types of technologies we can collect most of the features the project needs while gaining efficiency, providing data versatility, providing safety for field crews and providing an accurate and complete data set.
The Guida representative will discuss how they employed the technology and the various types of files provided to PG&E and ESRI. He will discuss how employing the mobile lidar unit and GPR sled they were able to collect data safely and quickly while saving the project money by having the ability to collect above and below ground data at traffic speeds. He will also discuss how the data collected is useful from the pre-design phase through the construction phase and into the asset management phase of a project.
Our PG&E representative will discuss the advantages gained through the data they obtained. They will talk about how versatile the data collected is in their pre-design and design environment. They will discuss how they are using the data internally in various phases of a given project.
Our Esri representative will discuss how the above and underground data collected by Guida and GeoSearch were leveraged within the ArcGIS system. She will dive into the benefits of collecting the data in 3D and insights gained when combining it with other existing geospatial datasets (both 2D and 3D).
