John McCombs serves as a Project Manager for Dewberry in the area of Geospatial and Technology Services. He has over 30 years of experience in the geospatial field, starting in wildlife management and forestry, working as a contractor at the NOAA Office for Coastal Management for 20 years, before coming to Dewberry in 2024. During his tenure at OCM he served as the contract lead for NOAA’s Coastal Change Analysis Program, overseeing the production, scheduling, and quality control of coastal land cover development, was the Southeast and Caribbean Regional Geospatial Coordinator, serving as the point of contact for the coastal management community and all things Digital Coast, and also worked as Technical Program Leader, helping manage all geospatial projects, mentoring staff, reviewing project plans, and technical point of contact for proposal writing. He has been a member (and 2021 Fellow) of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing for 26 years, serving in various leadership positions (current Treasurer and Board of Directors). John holds a bachelor’s degree in Fisheries and Wildlife from Michigan State University and a Master’s degree in Wildlife Management from Virginia Tech.
