Timothy Kinder

Tim Kinder is a licensed surveyor and experienced director of 3D reality capture projects. He has 27 years of experience in surveying and 3D data collection, analysis, processing, and modeling. As Director of all reality capture methodologies at Stahl Sheaffer Engineering, he spearheaded the design and development of the LiDAR 3D scanning and modeling operations, establishing the firm as one of the first and foremost providers of survey-grade mobile scanning in the northeast US. The department has expanded to include three mobile units and one terrestrial 3D LiDAR scanner, as well as a drone for aerial inspections and traditional survey services, enabling Stahl Sheaffer to cover all types of survey and scanning efforts. Under Tim’s direction, Stahl Sheaffer has scanned approximately 45,000 miles of roadway across 7 states, including the entire Pennsylvania Turnpike to support ongoing improvement projects. More than 7,200 miles of roadways have been developed into 360 degree panoramic videos.  Other innovative projects include scanning all roadway and parking lots across The Pennsylvania State University (21 campuses) to support asset management and maintenance prioritization of more than 2 million square yards of parking lots and more than 140 miles of roadways. In addition to investigating and implementing ongoing technology solutions for capturing data to support engineering design, Mr. Kinder is responsible for performing reviews of all Stahl Sheaffer survey projects, directing staff surveyors and technicians, and managing client communication and project progress.
