Josh Nimetz been engaged professionally in the airborne topographic lidar industry since 2000, working for three commercial geospatial firms during much of that time. In January 2017 he took a position with the USGS National Geospatial Technical Operation Center (NGTOC) as senior elevation project lead. Presently, Josh is in detail overseeing the Office of Operations at NGTOC. His professional experience in the airborne topographic lidar industry covers much of the operational spectrum including flight and ground survey planning, data acquisition, and data production. In his role with the USGS, Josh provides technical and logistical guidance to internal and external stakeholders in matters related to the 3D Elevation Program (3DEP). He has a B.Sc. in environmental science and policy from the California State University, Monterey Bay and a M.Eng. in GIS from the University of Colorado, Denver. He is an ASPRS Certified Mapping Scientist – Remote Sensing.
