Dr. Smith has worked at Maxar in its various incorporations for 25 years, primarily developing satellite image-derived land cover datasets. He was awarded Distinguished Member of Technical Staff in 2020. Dr. Smith holds a Ph.D. in remote sensing from the Geography department at the University of SC since 1999. Before that he worked for the SC Department of Natural Resources.
