Don Ventura is a Charge IHO Category ‘A’ Surveyor and Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST); he has been engaged in hydrography since 1984. His experience includes 22 years’ service as a hydrographic surveyor in the British Royal Navy, (including 3 years’ exchange with the US Navy at the Naval Oceanographic Office, Stennis Space Center Mississippi), 3 years employed with SAIC (now Leidos) and 14 years with Fugro. He is currently Bathy Lidar Solutions Product Manager with Teledyne Geospatial (Optech Division). Co-Author: Amar Nayegandhi, CP, CMS, GISP is Senior Vice President at Dewberry. He is the Technology Solutions Market Segment leader and oversees the geospatial and technology services line for Dewberry’s contracts with federal, state, and commercial clients. With over 22 years of experience, he is a recognized expert in topographic and bathymetric lidar data acquisition and processing. Amar has a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Mumbai and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from University of South Florida. He is the former Director of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) Lidar Division and is an ASPRS Certified Photogrammetrist and Certified Mapping Scientist – Remote Sensing.
