Getting Real About the Metaverse

Feb 07 2022

11:30 AM - 12:30 PM MT

Room 108

Earlier this year, Facebook announced that it would become a “metaverse” company, sparking speculation and curiosity from those who had not heard of the metaverse before. Creating a completely digital alternate reality – e.g., the metaverse – is the dream of gaming companies, but the metaverse may provide valuable new opportunities beyond entertainment. In addition, several companies are farther down the path of making the metaverse a reality that you’d think. How will the metaverse affect that AEC and geospatial industries? How will 3D scanning support the creation of this digital twin of the world? Learn about these answers and more from this interactive panel discussion.

Getting Real About the Metaverse and Omniverse Using ArcGIS in 3D Production
Mark Cygan, Esri
NVIDIA Omniverse™ is a platform to connect and collaborate with users through apps for creation, rendering, and developing your own applications. Omniverse provides fast high-end visualization, simulation, and collaboration on Urban Planning scenarios.  This session will cover how organizations can generate 3D content from remotely sensed data in Omniverse using GIS.  Attendees will learn how ArcGIS CityEngine's new connector can be used to support virtual collaboration through procedural data creation approaches. It will also highlight ArcGIS tools to support photorealistic simulation using ArcGIS Pro and SURE for ArcGIS.

Session moderated by Carla Lauter, Editorial Analyst, Diversified Communications.

Session format includes brief presentations followed by a moderated panel discussion and audience Q&A.
